It’s an incredible honor to photograph a family for so many different occasions and milestones. I first met the Stephens family when their oldest was born, and I have been blessed to have captured their family so many times over the last four years. I have been incredible to witness so many endearing moments – quick, loving glances, giant hugs, and the sweet sound of laughter. Their boys have the biggest smiles and those dimples are the cutest!! The best part is when they call me “Miss Mary” and give me high fives and hugs.
The glowy sunset light from Glenwood Gardens was ethereal which is why this park is one of my favorite locations for early evening sessions. The gazebo added to the dreaminess and was the perfect way to include some subtle architectural interest to their photos. We took the majority of their photos in a wide, open field, which allowed for some beautiful, candid moments to unfold: they walked the field, sat with each other and played, and gave each other hugs.
Marlee’s flowy ivory skirt added a touch of romance and elegance, and I knew as soon as I saw it and saw the way the light hit it, I had to get some shots of just her and Sam. They are a super cute couple, so it was so fun and so easy to capture these moments between them. Taking some time during a family session to get photos of just the couple is one of my favorite parts of a session. I’ll often hear the couple say, “I’m so glad we’re doing these. I can’t remember the last time we had photos of just the two of us. It might have been our wedding!” I love being able to give the couple just a few minutes to themselves to reminisce and to reflect on where and how it all started and the beautiful life they’ve now created.
Marlee and Sam, thank you for inviting me in and allowing me to be a part of so many special moments for your family. I am so grateful you’ve been with me since the very beginning, and I look forward to many more moments with your family!
