I first met Courtney and Aaron for their maternity session this past spring, and I have been excited for their newborn session ever since! Since they didn’t find out the gender of the baby, I have been eagerly waiting to hear if my prediction for what they were having was right. It was! It’s a girl!
I was also right about something else. Courtney and Aaron are so cute as a couple, but I just knew they would be even cuter as parents. Capturing their new family of three was effortless. You could feel the love and pride and joy as they looked down at their little girl. One of my favorite moments during the session was when they said, “I just love how she pulls her lip in just little.” My heart just melted! That’s something they’ll always remember about her as a newborn, and it’s been documented in these photos forever. Babies grow and change so quickly, so preserving this beautiful yet fleeting time for parents is such an honor and one of my favorite parts of being a photographer.
Another reason I couldn’t wait for their session is because Courtney told me the nursery is book themed. I knew the nursery was going to be adorable when I found out Courtney had a Harry Potter themed baby shower! If you’ve been following me for a while, you know I’m a former English teacher, and I love books, so I was excited! The nursery has so many cute details. Of course, I love that it includes many rows of bookshelves and above the crib says, “Once upon a time.” But, what I love the most is the sentimental details. Courtney told me her sister helped her create a gallery of children’s book character silhouettes using her Cricut. The best part? The decals include her and Aaron’s favorite books as children: The Berenstain Bears, Curious George, and of course Harry Potter.
I love soft tones (especially for newborn photos) and how they add such an ethereal feel. The pastel colors of their bedroom and the nursery paired nicely with the soft tones of their outfits, and Courtney looked gorgeous in her dress from my Client Closet. Neutrals and pastels for newborn photos allow the focus to be on the love and connection you have as a family creating a timeless look you’ll treasure forever.
Courtney and Aaron, thank you for choosing me to photograph your maternity and newborn photos and document the beginning of your beautiful new family. Little E is so lucky to have you two as parents!
